Subject: MacBeebEm 1.2 released

MacBeebEm 1.2

A BBC Microcomputer Emulator for the Apple Macintosh

NEW RELEASE - VERSION 1.2

Description

MacBeebEm (or MBE) is a freeware emulator which closely mimics
the BBC Micro (Model B) with 32K RAM. The keyboard and graphics
are faithfully emulated so games like Elite and Revs run okay.
Two versions are included; one compiled for 680x0 and the other
for PPC.

The Operating System and BASIC ROMS are not included. You need
to hook up your Beeb to the Mac and transfer them over. Full
instructions are provided.

RECOMMENDED SYSTEM: Any PowerMac or 68040 Mac running System 7.0
or later with a 13" colour monitor.

You can find MBE at

  FTP site: blue.bad.bris.ac.uk

  File Path: /pub/bbc/bin/mbe/MacBeebEm.sit.hqx

This file is about 328K and has been Binhexed and compressed
with Stuffit.

Please FTP between midnight and 8 a.m. (GMT) to keep traffic
to a minimum. A home page on the WWW is available at URL

  http://kestrel.fen.bris.ac.uk/students/ee2015/Welcome.html

and has news concerning BBC emulators under development. You can
also download the binary file from there.

New Features in Version 1.2

a) Native PPC version.

MacBeebEm arrives for the PowerMac!!! The new PPC version is
functionally the same as the 680x0 one but runs easily at full
Beeb speed. Compiled on a 7100/66 using Metrowerk's CodeWarrior 5.

b) Full colour and graphics in Teletext MODE 7.

c) Much improved keyboard emulation (the one in 1.0 was awful
and buggy).
