You have an ancient version of Beebem - thats the problem.
Look in the prerelease directory on ftp.compsoc.man.ac.uk where
you will find version 0.6 which should work out of the box.
Thats the last version I released.  Also you could look around
for the latest version which has been maintained by other people; I
believe 0.81 is the newest version.
