Subject: How to read/write *OPT4 parameter

Hi all,

Jumping ahead as usual, I wanted to adapt my XFer program so that
the *OPT 4 parameter, which is apparently stored on BBC disks,
can be transferred to and from BBC disks (and, on the PC,
stored in the !BOOT.INF file).

Unfortunately, the Advanced User Guide does not mention how
this parameter can be read from a disk or written to a disk (maybe
because it is DFS-specific).

I'd really like to prevent having to read disk sectors and then
extract the *OPT 4 parameter from this data, as the way in which
this parameter is stored on disks is probably very DFS-specific.

Therefore: does anyone know if there's a non-DFS-specific way
of reading and writing this parameter?

Thanx,
Mark.
