If you download my XFer software package from The BBC Lives! or
Mike's home page (only Mike has the latest version; it's at
http://www.jasper.demon.co.uk/bbc.htm) you'll find answers
to all of these questions in the extensive docs included.

Windows terminal sucks in handling many of the BBC's special
codes (delete, escape CTRL-N, etc). Fortunately, XFer has a terminal
emulator included.
