Keith, unfortunately, zok@... is right about the break, even though
he called it a character.  The Anchor XII will not send the space state
required as a break, even when the space state is correctly sent to it
by the serial interface.  I tried it on that modem because I didn't believe
it at first either!  May I echo his sentiments...
